What is the difference

Flat grinding is done on a flat platen and is a V grind in shape.
Hollow grinding is done against a contact wheel usually from 8" - 14' or larger and is concave in shape.
There is a third kind and that is called a convex grind, where the knife tapers to the edge like a Cutlass sword.

I prefer flat & Convex and combination's of these two due to the strength & cutting ability.
You can make a knife with combination's of all three grinds if you wish.
Hollow grinding is the easiest to learn.
