PLEASE FORWARD or SHARE this alert to your friends and associates who live in Washington and would support this bill.

Meanwhile, a House version of the bill, HB 2366, has been filed by our good friend Representative Kelly Chambers.

Knife Rights will let you know when it is time to contact your the legislature on HB 2366

Background:

In 2012, with a strong bipartisan effort, Knife Rights worked to get the state’s law changed to allow civilian possession and carry of assisted-opening knives and the manufacture and distribution of automatic knives and expanded possession and carry to first responders and military members. For the past decade we have worked to eliminate the remaining ban on “spring blade” knives with bipartisan support, getting very close on occasion, but not yet done. SB 5860 and HB 2366 continue our fight to repeal this irrational, antiquated and clearly unconstitutional ban.

Knife Rights had led the effort to repeal switchblade bans or restrictions in 19 states, starting with New Hampshire in 2010. Repeals have since been enacted in Alaska, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Knife Rights is America’s grassroots knife owners’ organization; leading the fight to Rewrite Knife Law in America™ and forging a Sharper Future for all Americans™. Knife Rights efforts have resulted in 44 bills passed repealing knife bans in 28 states and over 175 cities and towns since 2010.

Thanks to all who Signed-in in support of SB 5860, Knife Rights’ bill that would repeal Washington’s ban on “spring blade” (automatic) knives. We set a new record of 275 sign-ins in support (versus 12 opposed). CONGRATULATIONS for that! Knife Rights and Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation provided testimony in support, as did a number of WA residents. Our Director of Legislative Affairs, Todd Rather, will be staying over in Olympia to continue lobbying for this bill. We'll see how this plays out on Thursday, when a vote is expected in executive session. This is only the first step, but it was a great showing and again, thanks so much for taking the time to do this. You help make a difference.
