Two Hunters Completed

I just completed the knives pictured below. Both knives have 3" long O1 steel blades. Overall length is 6 7/8". The top knife, which seems to be difficult to photograph, has a curly Maple handle. The bottom knife is handled with Zebra wood.

Prior to starting on this batch of knives (I have three more in progress) I had pretty well worn out my meager supply of sanding belts. Before I started , I ordered new belts from Tracy. I now hate to think about the time I wasted grinding with worn out belts. My time at the grinder has been cut substantially and my lines are much cleaner. So for those of you that are new to knife making, like me, the advice to "use belts like they are free" is absolutely correct.

Nice.

Free belts, nope, the wife won't buy that one.

Kidding aside I save old belts for profiling and use a new belt for every new knife. The time savings and cleaner finish knife pays for it every time.

That was one of the hardest things for me to learn. If I begin to think that the belt is slowing down, put a new one on.
