The carving knife WIP

Von Gruff

KNIFE MAKER
There was a thread recently asking about the knife members were using to slice the thanksgiving turkey and it got me to thinking that I didn't have a pattern for a carving knife so drew one up using my Grandmothers 80 year old (+) carver for inspiration. Yesterday I cut one out with its 8 inch blade of 12C27, profiled and heat treated it so it is ready for grinding in the bevels now.

I changed the handle shape so it would or could be part of the chef set patterns I have

So this is the carver I have ready for further work

Got it ground today and the handles on so will post a pic later tomorrow after I shape up the black paper micarta handles

The carving knife I have added to my design stock. 8 inch bade of 1/8 12C27 with black paper micarta handles and stainless pins. Have bought a light tent so will be able to take better pics after it arrives. I used my grandmothers old carving knife for inspiration. It may be near 80 years old but it still carves very nicely indeed.
