* Question not answered......... but now I do know:
1. Harden 410 steel @ 1800 deg for 5 min. Temper @ 750 deg, for two hours, two times. You shoot for 45 to 38 RC.
2. I did my own testing, expecting to fail.
I hardened 410 too the above formula and I think I can handle it by hardening FIRST.
^ It gives a "ring" when you drop it on marble (like a blade)
^ Drills ok (with carbide bits), Taps ok.
^I sliced and bent it without a problem. The lock lug holds it's "spring".
3. Think I can do this with the thinner sheets.
I love titanium, only thing used for many years. The price has gone to the next galaxy.
