I just finished these two for two hunting buddies. Steel is 1/8" CPMD2, blades are 33/8" and knife is 71/2" OAL. One is dyed camel bone and the other is Buckeye.

I like both of these. Have you ever used any regular D-2 and what are the differences in working and using between D-2 and CPMD-2?

Thanks for the nice comments. This is the most popular skinner style locally, out of about 5, that I have done. Calvin, I have used D2 from multiple sources in the last 8 years and I have found out that the diffuculty in grinding and edge retention varies from one to the other. Paul Bos has done the heat treat on all of it. This is the first time I have used the CPM version and have not had any feedback on it yet. I like the way it grinds and it is not bad to hand finish. There seems to be a question whether this version will be available in the future.
