Real Challenge

A few months ago I made for a friend, who is a carpenter from Belgium, a 1.2442 ( 115W8) blade for his wood planing machine.
This kind of single beveled precision tool is hard to get in Thailand. blades from Japan, China(the real crap), from the U.K, are available but they are outperformed by this one by far.It lasts 5 times longer(on tropical hardwoods!!), than the best quality from Japan, which are the expensive ones to get here.Even the good quality from Sweden, he ordered could not keep up.
Industry takes the commercial compromise in heat treatment and steel quality, so handmade blades should beat them easy, if properly made.
The short blades for hand planing are much easier to make, but that one was 300 mm in length and that is no short bade at all.
Not easy to make, so the satisfaction after the feed back, felt damn good!
The same performance can be achieved with 2519 and 2552.
Thanks for watching.

Good on ya! I own two of these surfacing machines. Nothing beats the shimmer of a planed wood surface. So seeing this makes me very happy.
