I would like to introduce myself. I am 58 years old and medically retired due to heart surgery complication. I am lucky to be alive and enjoy every extra day God has given me on this Earth! I have several different hobbies to keep me busy. I also work with a group of mentally disabled adults two days a week at my church. I was watching You Tube and seen several video's on making Knifes'. I thought to myself, I have all the tools I need and what I don't have I'll be creative. My first two knives' are completed and I'll post them later. I had a great time making them and already dreaming up another knife.
I was given a truck leaf spring (5160?) 5/8" thick by 12" long. I was able to make two knifes' from the piece of 5160?
