My Third Knife... Karambit WIP

I hope I am posting this in the correct place...

Hello everyone! This is my first post here on the forum. My name is Jeremy, and I just got started with knife making about 3 months ago. So far, I love it!

I've been "lurking in the shadows" for quite some time now, just taking in all the information I can from all the talented people posting on this site. I figured it's about time to post a picture of my current work in progress.

As the title says, this is my third knife (actually, it's more like my 6th blade, but only the third one I feel is good enough to have a handle put on it).

It is made from 1/8" 1084 steel from New Jersey Steel Baron. I know many of you are not a fan of the Karambit, but I just think they look cool! This blade will be getting a paracord-wrapped handle in flat Dark Earth.

I do not have a belt grinder or a band saw, so all my shaping was done with a hacksaw, angle grinder, bench grinder, and files. I just completed the HT and tempering last night. I wanted to give the hamon a try, so I figured, why not? Pictured below is the result right after tempering. Let me know what you think so far! I am open to all comments and constructive criticism. I hope to get this sanded, etched, and wrapped this weekend.

Woke up early this morning. Drank my tea and got out tot the garage to begin hand sanding. Picture below is sanded down to 320 grit. Starting to see the hamon already! Hopefully it shows up in the crappy iPhone picture (the only camera I have).

Since the hamon started showing already, I got excited and did an etch in vinegar. I knew the flower vases my wife had would come in handy, hahaha.

After a few more etchings & fine standings. Now it's off to the hardware store for some polish and steel wool!

That thing is beastly. Good job so far!

Thank you!

After repeated etching & polishing cycles, it got to a point where no more detail was coming out of the hamon. So I rubbed it down with some steel wool one last time, and wrapped the handle with some paracord.

Overall, I'm happy with the way the karambit turned out. It is not anywhere close to the fit and finish I see most of the makers doing here on knifedogs. I just keep telling myself that one day, with many many more blades under my belt, I may get to the level of some of the makers here.

Here it is next to knife I made before this one...
