Moose Antler

Is moose antler a good handle material? If so, how would you use it? I know where I can get one for a small fee, and was thinking how many handles a person could do. Thanks, Dale.

The main beam would be good for handles if you could find one that is straight and long enough. I have use the bottom section and the rosette to make the rear section of the handle and it worked well. That pith in that area was narrow and the hard walls thick. As far as the tines go, the heavier ones could be used as handles with small narrow blades.

What Doug said. The palms are usually pretty pithy. However the pith could be filled with epoxy or super glue and probably be fine.

on the palms if you can split then and grind off the pith. then soak the scales in boiling water till they get soft. then press then flat.
