K-Bar inspired project

Last fall, a friend of mine commissioned a blade for his instructor. This instructor is an ex-Marine as well as a well known Maritial Arts instructor...and we wanted to pay homage to both traditions.

So, I took the KBar over all dimensions and did my own version. :)

The blade was forged from a billet of Crucible CRU-V steel. I gotta tell ya, it was a joy to work with! Moved like butter under the hammer and took a helluva temper!

The handle is stabilized spalted big leaf maple burl, and is pinned with Stainless Steel. I used a scrap of random pattern damascus for the guard.

Since my friend wanted to note both military service and martial heritage, we etched the symbols for both on the blade.

Nice job on the knife Chuck, it turned out fantastic! One heck of a tribute as well.
