Hello, my name is Steve and I like to make stuff.... I just finished a 2" X 72" grinder and have begun grinding my own blanks. I have allot to learn and I am humbled by the incredible talent here. I just received some 1095 from NJ Steel Baron and started a Randall style knife. Man I love those knifes! Now I am searching the forum for things like what clay to use, what quench oil etc.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I finished up a blank and ordered a tube of Rutland Fireplace Mortar. I think I am going to try my first quench with some good ol" almond wood in the BBQ. I am going to hit the Garage sales and find a good used toaster oven for the baking. And Dino, it was in the 80’s today in the Central Valley.
