Gluing Liners to Scales

How do you guys prepare and glue you liners to scale material? I've heard of people using both superglue and epoxy.

Superglue seems to work better, the epoxy doesn't "grab" the relatively smooth surfaces of the liner. Superglue is not as strong as epoxy though, nor does it withstand falls well. If you use a mechanical lock (corby, loveless, nuts, etc...) it really doesn't matter.

I use both depending on what materials I'm using. I always have pins or screws as part of the equation. I mainly use West Systems gFlex. I use CA when gluing horse stall mat to steel with pins. The hidden pin handles get gFlex also.

for liners like g10, micarta, etc. i use epoxy. flatten the inner side of the scale and rough both with sand paper (usually 60 grit)
then clean with acetone then alcohol then glue.

just be careful not to apply too much pressure, that squeezes epoxy out. spring clamps mostly work well for that
i do that separately before the scale glue up to knife

for vulcanized rubber i do all in one

Hmm, for the G10, micarta , mammoth tooth, I use CA after roughing up both items .Shokr, it may be a different epoxy I've tried. Frank
