To celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, we are offering this set of forged kitchen knives, forged by yours truly, along with a flat grinders Bubble Jig, to the person who picks the winning number or closest to that number.
Choose a number between 1 and 1000. The number will be chosen by the atmospheric random number generator on November 18th @ nine PM.
The knife and cleaver are forged W2; they will come annealed.

If the winner works fast they could have the set done in time to carve the Thanksgiving turkey. :5:

Happy carving, Fred

There will be a numbers chosen list posted each morning; it will be on the last page of this thread.

Thanks Fred!!!

Dana

Fred,

Got the package in the mail today.

The blades look great, just the right size.

I can't wait to try the Bubble Jig.

I'll keep you posted on how I progress.

Keith

Fred,

I got to practice with the Bubble Jig today.

WOW!!! What a difference.

It was so much easier to make a straight, even bevel grind.

This is going to be fun.

R. Keith,

Good to hear the blades are of useful size for you and the wife.

Most people are surprised at how easy the jig is to use and the results they get from the very start. Simple stupid; as someone said.
I can see a nice dagger in your future.:35:

We do like pics here. Post a few when you get the blades ground.

Regards, Fred

I'll do it.

Just practicing for now, nothing much to show yet.

I cut out and profiled what I hope is a good one yesterday, I'll post
when I get the grind done.

I've got to quit wanting to fix that one little spot. At least on my
turbo speed grinder. I'm really looking forward to a variable speed
rig.

Practice with the Bubble Jig

Here are a couple of pics #1 WITHOUT the Bubble Jig up to about 400 grit (seemed like everthing I did made it worse) and #2 WITH the Bubble Jig up to 120.

Still got a long way to go but having fun along the way.

Good to see you are getting in some practice. Grinding with the jig does not guarantee success first time out; but I can say without a doubt, you will get a lot better a lot faster. Its kind of like learning to drive a car; remember your first few times at the wheel? Scary! But once you get the hang of it, you can drive with your knee and shift gears without using the clutch.

Thanks for posting your grinding results, Fred
