Desert ironwood finish

I have heard of other folks using Danish oil, tung oil, or just buff and wax. I use sanding sealer, after wiping with rubbing alcohol (to take some of the oils from the surface and let the sealer bond) because it is the only product I have tried that dosen't build up on the surface but seals in the oil that otherwise turns your hands black. Any built up surface finish such as urethane or laquer will eventually bubble and flake when the natural oil eventually de-bonds it.

I just sand to 1500 then light buff with wax.Don't overbuff as you will orange peel the surface.

Kieth, Like Stan, I sand to around 1500 then apply a few coats of either Tung oil or true oil.. 00 steel wool in between coats. Then a couple wax coats and lastly A light buff on clean soft cotton buff. I do mean Light buff. as you can screw everything up if you hit it to hard or long. Dont ask me how I know! %^@! %$% $#@ **(&%^ :p

Thanks guys,I was just about to put it on the buffing wheel,
guess I would have had a mess:sad:
