I've been debating on what steel to try. I can get D-2 locally for I think $9.35 a lb. in 1/4" thickness, less for 1/8" obviously. If I buy a drop, I get 10% off. Is this a decent price?

I'm thinking about trying D-2 first before going to the newer CPM steels. Any suggestions or links to places that may be cheaper?
 
I am grinding out 24 drop points from 3/16 D2 right now. It is an excellent edge holder. Only draw back is it will snap if side loaded very far. Have you checked with Aldo. He had some a while back. Aldo njsteelbaron@gmail.com
