Color Problems

I am having trouble getting the color I want when I dye the leather for my sheaths. I use Fiebing oil based dyes, have tried saddle tan and light brown. All attempts have been too dark for my taste. I would like to get a "light" brown that I have seen in many photos on the forum. Any ideas? Thanks for any input.

You might try a neatsfoot oil with darkener in it. Go easy with the oil unless your leather has good body to it ( butt cuts and along the back are the firmest, in that order)

Try pure sheps neatsfoot oil alone on a scrap to start with, then add darkener to get it where you want.
