Blacksmith Made BIG Bowie - needs a long leg- Sold- Thanks
I've had numerous inquires on this one and the first thing I tell people is that it's huge. I'm 6'1" and it rides from belt to knee, over 19" in the sheath. My mindset when making the knife and sheath was any ferrier could have made the blade and the Cowboy could have made the sheath and handle from materials on any chuck wagon.
Blade from depression era rock drill bit
All hammer, hot cut and file work
Differential quench in brine water - tempered in charcoal fire
12" sharpened x 2"1/2" x 1/4"
Guard from a RR clip
Handle from broken hatchet- oiled, scorched, scraped and waxed
Butt cap and bolster poured from pewter and lead free fishing weight
The sheath is veg-tanned scraps, stitched with linen harness cord. I was in one of my minimalist moods so all I used on the sheath was my "Old Timer" pocket knife, a sharpened nail to poke holes, vinegeroon dye and warmed beeswax. A chunk of Turquoise from Arizona.
Sold----$200.00 or trade for ball and cap revolver(repro preferred)...Thanks.....Randy
