Hello, I’ve been reading the board for a while now and picked up a lot of good information. Finally decided to quit reading and start making. I profiled and beveled my first two blades out of a low carbon steel that I got from Home Depot just to get a feel for it. I work mostly with files, drill press and dremel tool. I bought some o-1 from and finally made my first real knife. I’ll be posting pictures on the main forum and please feel free to critique me. You won’t hurt my feelings and I would greatly appreciate you correcting any problems that you see.

Hello,

I started with pretty simple tools too. A drill press with a machine vise that I used as a milling machine, buffer, grinder and sander, a $50 belt sander and $25 angle grinder.

Welcome to the pack. There's nothing wrong with starting out small. I made my first knife with a file, hand drill and spool of kite string.
