Amadou sheath out of tinder fungus

Hey there,

because i had surgery this week it's impossible to forge at the moment for some weeks, instead of that i am checkking out more things on the web and i started with an idea to make a knife sheath out of Amadou.
Think this is pretty Neo tribal style and a lot of work to make, but it will fit nicely with a frontier/woodsman/mountainman kind of knife.
Amadou is made out of a tinder fungus, i made it many times before mostly to help me making fire after i have made a coal with a firebow.
It takes some time to do it, here a link on my blog where it shows you how to make it (there somewhere a translation button for the english version!)

Here some more info about Tinder Fungus http://www.primitiveways.com/Amadou%20substitutes.html
I know that it's been used in clothing and that the Romans used it as a sort of foam/padding in their helmets, woodsman used it for making fire and sharpening their knives like a strop so it would be great to use it for a sheath or a front panel:)
I got this enormous fungus two weeks ago from a friend who know's that i use this stuff and yesterday i start cutting the interlayer out.
It's pretty tuff material and it will blunt the knife fast,...today i got it all out and i put in a pan with water to soften up.
Now a day cooking before i can stretch it out and make it usable for sheath making:)
Here some pics and whenever i make progress i keep you updated, cheers Igor.

Sorry guys, pretty late reaction here, but it didn't work out, the fungus clothing stretch to much so i failed to make a sheath out of it, although now i have a lot of fire thinder for fire by friction;)
