    One More for Janesville

Here is another medium hunter that will be going to the Badger Show. I used O1, 1095 and 15n20 for the Damascus and arranged my steels in this billet to highlight my 15n20. Creating the ladder pattern highlighted the 15n20 right down the middle of the blade. The bolsters are 1084 & 15n20...

Feather Hunter for the Badger Show

I just finished this medium size hunting knife that I'll have at the Badger Show in Janesville Wisconsin this weekend. The "feather" pattern isn't the traditional style but rather I think that it looks like sparks off of a grinder. I'm not sure really what I should call it. The steels I used...

    Ladder Pattern Hunter

Thanks everyone. That knife was shipped that same afternoon. I'll try to have more pictures next time. The bolsters are not pinned, but are soldered with bearing solder. It makes for a good clean and strong assembly. Bill

    Ladder Pattern Hunter

I just wanted to show and share the knife that I finished this morning. It is ladder pattern Damascus (160 layers of 1084 & 15n20), "W" pattern bolsters (also of the same steel types), Amber stag carved bone (from Culpepper) scales and Mosaic pins. Both the steel and leather are my own work...

    Scagel Style Damascus Hunter

Travis, In answer to your question id that it depends on would how thick will the blade be when finished. You leave the blade thick enough so it won't be thinner than what you want finished. I hope this helps. Bill

    Scagel Style Damascus Hunter

Travis, I used a die that I made out of 1 1/2" dia. of H13 steel that I machined 3 concentric rings on one end of it. I use a hydraulic press to imprint the die, then grind the blade flat. I don't have the die at home right now as I have it on loan but will post a picture as soon as I get it...

    Scagel Style Damascus Hunter

This is my first knife of 2014 finishing it on the 3rd. It is of Scagel influence in handle only. The blade is a rose bud pattern of 1084 and 15n20 steels. The guard is 416 SST, with the spacers of .040" 410 SST and black spacer material. The wood is stabilized Curly Koa and the rest is...
