    Large band saw blade

Sounds like a relatively new blade, and perhaps only the bandsaw teeth are hardened. (on some new blades, only the teeth are induction hardened.) Might even be a medium carbon steel. Do some test hardening on samples and see how they come out. Or a small knife with a tape handle and try it for...

Butcher knife design critique and suggestions

'Nother way of looking is..... Green River Knives makes some slim, high carbon knife blanks that fit your requirements without all the hoopla. Been using several of their knifes for 15 years or so and am very happy with them. They actually work much better than my wife's high priced German...

    World Series

Boy, would it not be great to see the Royals win the series 4 to 0. That second game rocked. They put it to the Mets just like they did my Astros. (It is much more fun to see another team receive a very solid ask-whipping.)

    World Series

Yes, it was quite a game. Glad the Royals won, but still disappointed they beat my Astros. Couldn't believe that ending. Wow.

    Bevel Filing Jig

Dazcon, Looks wonderfull, fully overboard. But do have one question about your design. Concerning the fixture that holds the knife, It looks like the knife blank has to be removed flipped, repositioned somewhat by sight, and then retightened. Was wondering if a fixture to hold the knife was in...

    laminated puukko

George, You sound like me, am my own worst critic. I like both the knife and the sheath. Yes, improvements can be made, but we don't know that till we try it. That's how we learn and grow. (Darn, I needed to hear that myself. Thanks.) Rich S.

    Question for the wood guys?

my 2 cents worth....If mine, would slab it to say 1" thickness and see what it really looked like. It may be pretty or not. If not, then would a colored stabilizing mix bring more beauty to it? If yes to any of the above, then would send it away to someone experienced for the stabilization. Yes...

The "Unigrinder" WIP - another KISS knife grinder concept

Guess the real reason for not using 2" aluminum or building up the thickness with multiple layers of thinner plate is that I'm not personally experienced, and comfortable, with aluminum. Do not have the capabilities for machining metals in my woodworking shop, except for limited numbers of...
