This one's for me

This represents several firsts:

  • The first knife I've finished in over a year.
  • The first forged knife out of the hot shop I set up last year.
  • My first knife using Burl Source's wood.

It's forged from some of Aldo and Mace's original 1084, silicon bronze
guard and pin, Burl Source stabilized maple burl handle and a spacer
of American chestnut burl that I had K&G stabilize a few years ago.

It's not perfect, but I'm happy overall. Any comments or
criticism would be very welcome.

You may not think it's perfect, but I dang sure wouldn't complain about owning it. Great job Dan.

Dan, I think you got a winner there. A lot can be said for simple elegance! 2thumbs

What is the makeup of the bolster material?

Thanks for all the complements folks!

The bolster is stabilized American chestnut burl.

I know it needs a sheath. I need to learn to make them. My
current plan is to put handles on the other two blades I forged
last year, hopefully in time for IG's hammer in, then make sheaths
for all three. I've got to have a sheath for the KITH one done
by July but starting in May should give me a chance.

Dan, there's nothing wrong with that knife, looks really good to me. Your sheath looks good too , especially for the first one. Great job.
