Finished my first and am working on my second. This one was inspired by Aarron Gough Resolute III, blank profiled, bevels filed in, heavy file marks sanded out with 80 grit paper, onto the 150. More pics to follow shortly! Hope the Forum members don't mind me posting my builds? I just want to show other beginners that if they have an interest in trying this hobby "JUST DO IT" (Copywright infringment?) Stop surfing and make a plunge!!

Ok pic resized hope it works. Here is blade sanded to 220, thinking I may try 400 for this one before heat treat?

I like the resized pics better!!

That looks nice. That is a clean plunge line, does it go to the spine?

Yeah. I wanted to merge the plunge and make it just disappear just before the spine but, I had a problem with my filing jig and to correct it I had to file one side a little deeper so it went into the spine. So I matched the other side. Next one on the jig I will measure the eyebolt and write measurements down so I can duplicate on other side. But that jig is responsible for those plunge lines! It works GREAT just a learning curve with it just like anything else. Next one will be better!!

That's a nice blade. How do you plan to do your heat treat and temper?

I made a 1 brick forge that uses a propane torch, and then I do a 2 hour temper at 400 degrees in an old toaster oven. Seems to work pretty good with the 01 steel?

Just did the Harding, need to temper next.

Did you do the file test on the blade to check the hardness?

Yes I did skated right off like it's suppose to! Heat treated the back end of the knife also, that is going to be pointed up to use as a window break.

So here is the blade tempered and the G10 liners and scales glued up. They should look good when finished? All new for me having a blast!!IMG_20170716_35894.jpg IMG_20170716_22435.jpg

Well finally had some time to spend on this knife! Got it final sanded to 1K Grit and the scales attached!! All that's left is to shape handle and sharpen. Then make a sheath. New one in my head now!!

Ok second one done!! Really like the way this one came out. If I could do it all again I would have made the handle a little larger. Like the way the liners look. Have a lanyard and a whistle that needs to go on it. And the pic of the end is a blunt point for a window breaker. Had a lot of fun with this one.
