Welcome Pilgrim,

Do a lot of reading here, then when you think you just can't find your answers, ask a question.

Lots of talent located within this forum. Look around and make yourself at home.

ok, i have cut some blades out of saw blades, the latest one seems to be a little soft when i started grinding them , just wondering if there is away to harden them or is all this time lost?

Welcome to the pack Newton!

I make knives from round sawmill blades (L-6) and have had few problems. What type of sawblades are you using? PM me if you need to. I also do all of my heat treating as well, so should be able to help. Lots of folks here that are more knowledgeable than myself, but not a great number using sawmill blades (I think). Be sure to check out the Neo-Tribal thread as well.

Newton, welcome aboard. This is a great forum and has a lot of information.
I agree with gaelic forge, you saw blades are likely made of L6 and will make fine blades if you heat treat them correctly. You are starting out the same way I did, and probably a lot of other folks as well.

Dude; You should let us know where you are at. Never can tell one of us makes will invite you to their shop.
