Proper Wa handle dimensions?

On a Wa handle do y’all generally make a perfect octagon or do you make them a little bigger in height then in width? I have seen them both ways and I’m not sure if there is a proper way to do it or if it is preference? I look forward to hearing everyone’s opinions

Daniel, here's what I came up with from this site:
https://coltonhandcrafted.com/2018/11/11/wa-handle-dimensions-and-shaping/
The site has a pretty good WIP on making Wa handle. I made my first Wa with the Damascus I made and the wife likes it. I think I'll be using more of them rather than the traditional western style.... I sorta like the western style for looks, but the Wa seems easier and uses less steel since it's a hidden tang.

Octagonal Wa-Handle Dimensions

Blade length: 210-270 mm (8” to 10”)
Handle length: 135 mm (5.4”)
Ferrule end width: 18 mm (.7”) (.675”
Ferrule end height: 23 mm (.9”) (.879”)
Butt end width: 20 mm (.78”) (.717”)
Butt end height: 26 mm (1.0”) (.900”)
Chamfers: 5 mm marked in from corner. (.2”)

I make mine an even octagon starting from a 1x1 square. The most important feature of a true “wa” handle IMO is a slight taper from the handle junction increasing slightly toward the pommel end. It’s fairly subtle but you can see it’s there.
