New 110 VAC VFD source

I don't know anything about this VFD. RedBeard on YT just purchased one for a disk grinder. It's the standard NEMA 1 housing like all the other cheap Chinese VFDs. BUT - for $115.37 shipped (+ taxes) it's by far the least expensive option around for a 110 vac input VFD that I've seen. Looks to be a version of the AT1. I have a couple of 220V, single-phase in, 220V single-phase out AT1s. They work. The only awkward part I found when setting them up was that when setting 3-wire control, the "Stop" command input needs a Normally-Open pushbutton, not the Normally-Closed pushbutton that every other drive I've used needs. The manual is on the poorer side of dire and it took me a while to work out the NO stop thing.
 
Again, I know nothing about this seller on ebay, and they have 0 feedback at this point. BUT - for $59 they're listing a 2.2KW HY VFD and a water cooled spindle motor. That's a good price just for the VFD, and I'm tempted to order one just to see. ebay says they WILL refund money if the item isn't delivered and good. OK, I just did it - placed an order. Let's see what I get. I have NOT use for the spindle motor.....

What would you use this set up for?
 
That’s kind of like going to a Chinese restaurant and ordering a filet mignon, a bowl of tomato soup and a Hershey bar, while their all good by themselves, together it’s kind of odd.:D

Naw, that setup is normally purchased by folks who are building their own CNC machines. The cost is normally in the $200 to $300 range for that setup. I'm not sure if I'd ever use the spindle motor or not, but got a buddy who purchased that same setup when building his CNC. I'm sure he wouldn't mind a spare spindle motor. The VFD will be put on the shelf as a spare for any one of the 4 Chinese VFDs I'm currently running.
 
That looks like my Lapond (SoyanTech) VFD I got on Amazon a while ago. Mine is a 2.2 kWh version for 220V input and has been running well. I use longer cords to mount the VFD away from the grinder and just have the small detachable control panel at the grinder.

Be very interested if this kit is any good. Seems too good to be true, but then, quite often the shipping cost is the difference between these different chinese imports. (or the same item but shipped by someone else) Probably costs like a tenner in China, and the bulk of the cost is shipping.. Maybe all the others are when shipping was affected by Covid? Or it is old stock left in a hanger from when shipping was cheaper.

Gotcha, I know nothing about operating a CNC, much less building one!
 
Chris, remember I said I don't know anything about that vendor. I'm doing the same as you, taking gamble for a spare VFD.

Possibly a new vendor looking for some quick sales to get the feedback up. Note he's got zero feedback score at this point.

eBay is pretty easy to get a refund if the seller is bogus or the product is poor. It's a small price to pay if it's a good one...
 
It does look like an insane deal.. There are at least three other identical products on ebay, all over £250

I took a punt as well, as there was only 4 available (one left now) and I need one for my 2nd lazer cut 2x 72" grinder which has a 2.2kw three phase motor.

My unit is still in shipping with tracking number - BUT, the tracking number still says, and I'm not sure what it all means. Hopefully it's actually been shipped and not lost. There's a lot of "arrival..." and "Handed over...." stuff, but nothing showing arrived in USA customs.

Tracking on the USPS web site gives great concern. The item was delivered to Nashville, TN and not to my address in California.

I just filed a claim with eBay. Can you guys check tracking on the USPS web site and see where your item went?

After I set mine to not delivered via Ebay, the seller removed the item from sale and set it as "broken" then an hour later the seller profile no longer exists.

As the OP said, we will get our money back, however the seller likely will be stealing Ebay's money not ours. I guess "if it looks too good to be true".. But it was well worth a punt with Ebays money back guarrantee.

Search for "pulia_8" he doesn't exist on the site any more.

Chris, looks like a package actually made it to the USA in your case as the USPS is showing the package. In my case it doesn't show ever getting to USA. Checking the listing for my unit it shows "This listing was ended by the seller because the item was lost or broken." so I'm going to file with ebay also. I doubt ebay/paypal will lose any money. With new sellers they tend to hold the money until item is delivered. Oh well, it was a good try. :)

Looks like ebay doesn't wish me to file just yet since it shows shipped and the final delivery date isn't yet reached. I did send a msg to seller - let's see what happens. My delivery date is "Estimated delivery Mon, Jul 18 - Mon, Jul 25"
