Important framed handle tip.

If you decide to make a framed handle and you spend a lot of time cutting and hand filing your slot for the frame until you have a near perfect tight friction fit DO NOT decide its a good idea to braze it in place. The heat WILL cause it to expand and ruin your fit up before you get the rod to melt. Ask me how I know. I have never felt so stupid...

Ouch,ya that's not going to work and as they say live and learn . Experience is a great teacher .

Fortunately I have a fly press so I saved the frame fairly easily but dang how dumb. I hate doing dumb stuff. But so far I like frame handles. I looked up an old thread by Bruce Bump and read it like five times then off I went and all was well until the brazing which was not Bruce’s idea.

You think you’re dumb? I’ll show you :mad:dumb....what’s a framed handle?!!
Its just another way to make a knife with a guard and scales without using a slotted guard. I dont really like to use slotted guards. If you search “framed handle” You will find some threads with pictures.
