I'm Back

I haven't been on the forum in quite awhile. Took a break to rebuild a hotrod among other things. Been back in the knife shop lately and completed a few. Have several in progress on my bench.

I really like the spalted wood on the first knife shown - they all look good. Good to see you back, and the best reason in the world to be absent.

I REALLY like the hotrod. Is that an old microphone head for the shift knob? Yep, 3 deuces is the way to go. Tell us about the rest of engine and drive-train. You wouldn't happen to have an AC setup for these hot summers in Tupelo?

Just a mild 350 with 350 trans. S10 rear end with 3.0 gears. Cruises 70mph at about 2200rpms. Vintage A/C system. Nice and cold. Power windows and power driver's seat. I'm a radio producer in my "grown up" job. So the gear shift knob is appropriate. We stripped it down to a shell and redid everything. Was originally in primer so we put some shiny black paint on it. :)

I'd call that a really nice "street rod" since it seems like it would be derivable. That had to be fun project. Congrats - I always love to see a local boy doing good stuff. I was raised just across the line in Alabama - and still think it that area as "home". the rest of my family still lives up that way.

Looks like excellent prep work before paint. In my youth I worked doing custom paint on cars, choppers, boats even private planes for very picky clientele and all the panels I can see look very well done. All the gaps between door to body etc. even and panels lining up "in plane". No warbles etc. on curved surfaces. Very nice knives as well....................
