Got Wood??

I've been looking for a local source to buy handle material from. Found a gent close to me that cuts a lot of trees for Bowl Blanks and Firewood. I contacted him and made arrangements to meet him. Awesome guy, bought a bunch of local hardwood from him. Got some Flaming Ash, Cherry Burl, Spalted Chestnut, Sugar Maple Burl there were a couple others that I grabbed just because of the patterning. These were all local trees he cut from a parcel of land he owns! Is it worth stabilizing the wood yourself or go the K&G route? I'm really considering K&G. I have a lot on my plate making the knife, making a Kydex sheath or now teaching myself leather work so I can make leather sheaths for certain knives.

Stabilising yourself is a simple process and well worth the input in time and $. I dont do any handles now that I avent stabilised. Have a shipment of giraffe bone coming through customs at the moment and will run that through the tank as well

I'm like you, too many irons in the fire all the time to add another job. When I can send batches to K&G for $5 a block, including shipping, and get the best quality in the industry, it was an easy decision for me.
