Got a few more finished

Here are a few knives that I have just gotten finished. One is a caper out of 52100 with Kirinite handles, one is 1084 with some of the curly maple I came across and the last are 2 of 3 filet knives I made out of 15N20. One of those has a walnut crotch handle and the other 2 have black micarta handles. I'm working on the sheaths now.

I really like the looks of the curly maple. I used aqua fortis and tru oil for the finish.

Stupid question... Is the aqua fortis what gives the curly maple its "depth"?

Really liking the shape and lines on the one with the maple scales, btw.

Not a stupid question. I'm just not sure how to answer your question.

AQ is sorta like a stain, but you apply it differently. You heat it after application. Good curly maple has figure and AQ helps bring that out. Think old Kentucky rifle...

DeMo, figured walnut has always been a favorite of mine, but the curly maple is right there with it. I'd hate to guess how much of it I've built into cabinets and painted before I got into making knives.
