Diamond Files?

Do any of you guys use diamond files for handworking and “fine tuning” bevels after HT? I’m having a heck of a time doing the final hand work on this blade now that it’s been hardened. I was trying 80 grit ceramic belt material taped to a flat aluminum bar but even the ceramic goes away after just a few strokes. This is gonna take forever!

If I were better at the belt grinder of course I wouldn’t have to do all this, but I’m just not there yet. Any tips?

Get some elbow grease and 120 grit sand paper. Sand until your hands go numb. Take a break, start again. It gets easier with every knife you make.

" It gets easier with every knife you make." Yup this because you will learn it is easier to get better grinding than it is hand sanding.

Forget the 80 grit ceramic belt for hand sanding. Go with https://usaknifemaker.com/rhynowet-red-line-sheets.html, use it with Mobile 1 syn oil with a sanding block - perhaps wood with a leather strip on bottom. OR - perhaps something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283291925894 I ordered one yesterday to try.
