Carving Set - just finished

LobosStyle Blades

Well-Known Member
Hello all, I recently finished another carving set. This one is a dedication for a wedding that is upcoming. Luckily they don't follow here so I can finally post it somewhere. The only thing I'd change if I could is that the font on the 2 "LobosStyle" is different on each pieces. The handle on the knife is the second one as the first was damaged and I had to redo it.

This was my first attempt at a press fitting on a guard/bolster as well. A bit more difficult than expected.

Steel: 440C 57-58hrc
Furnishings: 6065 aluminum with black vulcanized paper spacer
Handle: Inlaced Acrylester - cherry cheesecake
Electrolytic etching done in house and made my own stencils....design took FOREVER to get right.
Box: Alder (rough made by friend). Finished in house with gel stain and oil finish. Supports are pine with a felt to protect the blade. The latch is actually a leather satchel clasp that I modified for this.

Hope you like. Critiques welcome.

Very nice, I'm sure the bride and groom will be floored when they see these and will be in their family for a long time. well done Steve.

Good looking set. AND the stencils turned out really good. I make my own stencils also.

Thanks guys, means a lot.

This one was a lot of work and had some trouble with the plunge lines not being smooth or even. It took a good hour + with a 400grit gator belt and a 2" wheel cleaning them up. Then the hand sanding to make sure the finish was just right took a while too. The design was a good 7hrs or more for the couple and getting the lines just right so they'll stencil and etch right.

So much work but it was worth it.
