    Maxim oil is now selling Park #50.

    Lee Neves at Maxim oil just contacted me to let me know he has P#50 available. He's selling it in 5gal buckets for $16 a gal. He is also developing his own brand of 7sec oil, although it's not available yet. Thought I'd let you all know.

    one for the wall of shame!

    Here's my worst crack yet. 1095, water quenched from 1500 for 2 sec and then into oil. I was going by my new pyrometer which is reading lower than my old one, I think I need to calibrate it! the old one must be right on the money. for your enjoyment and my shame......

    Mc Master-carr 11 second oil question

    Any of you who use McMaster-carr 11 sec oil. what temp do you heat the oil too before you quench? I cant find any info on the Mc-car website. Thanks all.

    A new design from Barton Knives

    These are 1095 with a Hamon, about 6" long. I liked this knife so much that the first one I made for a dealer I decided to keep. There's two with micarta, two with amboyna burl, one with iron wood and one with Brazilian rose wood. Thanks for looking.

    Finished my first japanese blade with hamon.

    My first 1095 diferentialy hardend blade.

    I feel like a kid on Christmas, I just polished this blade and I'm very pleased with it. I'll post more pics when its finished, I just had to share this with someone and the family's out. this will have a mokume Tsuba or guard and a lacquered cherry wood sheath.
