    ABS Hammer In this weekend

It was nice to meet you Teddy. (I'm Neil) It was nice to see Burton and Moony too. Unfortunately I'm afraid I missed Fred. By the way Teddy, you ought to tell everyone what a wonderful thing BossDog did with the pay it forward table. I would, but I don't know all the details and want to...

    Warped and twisted Alternate Grained Ivory 1/4" x 5" x 10.5" SHEET

Boss, I called the shop, Dustin was out to lunch so I told Beth that Dustin's advice worked great and to let him know so that if it happens to any other customer, they can relay the same advice. Thanks Boss, you picked two good employees with Beth and Dustin. :35::35:

    Warped and twisted Alternate Grained Ivory 1/4" x 5" x 10.5" SHEET

I ordered a sheet of the 1/4" alternate grained ivory from Boss Dogs place and when it arrived, it was twisted and warped pretty bad. It had about 1/4" to 3/8" warp and twist to it when I pulled it out of the box. No idea why. I called the shop and spoke with Beth who referred me to Dustin. I...

    Frankenstein 2x72 grinder - bounce ?

Pics of it might help determine what is happening. Not sure what you are referring to as "bounce". The contact wheel it's self bounces, or the belt or the whole machine?

    Bandsaw Tracking?

Installed the sleeve bearings in the new wheel and replaced the tires. Runs and tracks perfectly now. $123 from ebay + $40 in parts = $163 for a close to $300 band saw. Not too shabby. Thanks for the help guys.

    Bandsaw Tracking?

Well, I have my new Starrett blades and discovered my tracking problem. When I removed the old blade, I decided to check the roller bearings and so forth. What I discovered was the bottom/drive wheel had some pretty significant side to side slop. I took the wheel off and discovered that the...

    Bandsaw Tracking?

Thanks fellas. I'm going to order some from from the guy on e-bay. They are Starrett brand Matrix M42 Edge bimetal, regular tooth with a wavy set. He is selling a pack of 3 for $18.20 with free standard shipping. I think I will get two 14 tpi and one 18 tpi in case I want to cut...

    Bandsaw Tracking?

Thanks for the info Lawrence. I have found the bimetal blades on BossDogs website and am about ready to make a purchase. One last question. Regular tooth or Variable? Is one better for certain types of cutting than the other?

    Bandsaw Tracking?

Thanks for the replies. On further inspection, the blade that is on it doesn't appear to be a very high quality blade. The joint where the ends were welded is pretty rough and it "appears" that there might be a very tiny hairline crack next to the teeth where the two ends meet. I think Tracy...

    Bandsaw Tracking?

I just pulled the trigger on a used Milwaukee 6230N off of Ebay to use for profiling blades from bar stock among other things. Got it for $123.00 including shipping. I just got it today and the motor runs fine. Trigger variable speed and guide rollers work fine too. The only thing I...

    Knifemakers Guild Show

Unfortunately life has thrown me a curve ball (actually a few of them) and I won't be able to attend. :cursing: I was really looking forward to this. It's nothing serious, just things in life that require attention and take priority.

    oil heater

Ed, what if your shop is unheated and the oil is at ambient temp in the winter? Down in the single digits at times. Unless I am mistaken, it sounds like you would try to bring it up to 70-90F.

Slumped glass platen is it possible?

Let me see if I'm understanding you correctly Fred. You are wanting to make the glass concave on the back side so there is a space between the glass and the metal that it is mounted to for air flow to keep the glass and belt cooler, correct? Do you want the face of the glass that rides...

Non sparking or low sparking steel for axes ??

I have to agree with Scott. Sparks are definitely a risk when entering a meth lab, but I would highly doubt they would be using a breaching axe to gain entry. My guess would be a battering ram would be a better method. If you're still in doubt, ask your SWAT buddies what they think about it.
