My first true Bowie in a few years.

The first knife I ever made was a Bowie for my dad with lots of help from Jim Adams in his shop. That was either 4 or 5 years ago. Recently a friend asked me to make his 'wedding knife' to go with his wedding gun (nickel revolver with dark walnut grip). He's an out-west kinda guy, so I...

    Epoxy Soaked wrapped handle...

This isn't a How-To... it's a How-Do-I... :) I hate the dirt that can get into my wrapped handle material, and it also can move if wrapped dry. When people the cord is epoxy soaked... does that mean you applied a thin epoxy after it was wrapped? or you literally soaked the cord and THEN...

    Latest Friction Folder

I profiled and heat treated this blade so long ago, I can't remember if it's 1084 or 1095. Handle is black g10 with lime green and blue g10 backspacer. It is not 100% up to what I would sell, so I will either be carrying this myself, or giving it to a friend who had one of my knives stolen...

What coating for carbon damascus to prevent rust?

What would you guys use to coat a piece of carbon damascus that is going to see semi-regular handling and moisture? I thought about regular spray clearcoat, but I'm not sure... FWIW, this is not for a knife, but instead for a golf divot tool.

    Let's play... Name that wood.

I bought this as a cutting board, but I think its actually intended to be a serving platter. Either way, that's not why I bought it. The wood is quite dense and heavy, so I'm thinking of cutting it up for handles or scales. Anyone recognize the type of wood? Honest question because I...

Question on Kitchen knife handle hardware

I've been approached by someone looking for a pair of kitchen knives with a little "more tactical look" than most kitchen knives. 1 utility (6" blade) and 1 paring (3.5" blade), and the design and materials are all up to me (although he did request carbon steel). In my mind, I'm looking at...

    2 Little pocket Dashi's

Perfect for having a little something extra in your front pocket. Both of them actually fit in this little leather sheath (not at the same time), and I have carried each of them at different times. That means these are already "patina'd" for you. Plenty sharp for opening vacu-packs...

First Folder after a long hiatus

I got pretty burnt out after Christmas last year, and spent about 6 months away from the shop. Finally excited about knifemaking again! There are a few things I'm not happy with on this knife, so it's going to be my own. :) Can't really complain about that. LOL 1084 - 1/8" thick, right...

Flagship Custom Linerlock - this will be my main model from now on...

I am so excited about this knife, that I am going to use this as my platform for the future. One-off knives are amazing and wonderful, but it is hard for people to recognize you as a maker until you have a flagship (IMHO). I will be taking this same design up to a 4" blade and down to a 2.25"...

    Watermelon Liner-lock

There are LOTS of pics of my progress on this knife in the WIP/Tutorial section, but I'll just put a few finished pics here. A close friend asked me to make a green liner lock for her boyfriend for Christmas, and gave me carte-blanche on the design. Just so long as it was green, and had a...

WIP - Liner lock from my own design

This isn't really my "first" liner lock, because I previously built a USAKM Chow Chow (that I still have in my EDC rotation). But this is the first of my own design from start to where I am now. Began with only a paper idea of what I generally wanted, some 0.071" Ti from Boss and 1084 from...

    Sgian Dubh with clipped blade

3 late nights and early mornings and I have finished my first sgian dubh, or at least my modified interpretation of one. I'll certainly be making more of these. I've really enjoyed the work and finished style of this knife, can barely keep my hands off it long enough to type this! :) 8"...

All the best knifemakers are from Mississippi???

When I was a super-newbie in the custom knife world, I can remember seeing SOOOO many amazing knives that were marked with the maker's name, and "M.S." under it. It was such an exciting thought, to believe that there were such amazing knifemakers within driving distance from my house...
