Thanks for your reply DC, I found a test from Boss Dog himself where you burn the leather and if the ashes are green it's CT and Grey = VT leather... I did it and got Grey so I'm happy. Good to know about the iron in my water, I do have HIGH iron in it. Thanks for tip on the wood bleach i'll try...
Hello all I dont post much here but I try to lurk every once in a while. anyway I wanted to show off the sheaths I made and ask a few questions. These sheaths represent a few firsts for me. first time I've ever tooled leather, and MADE my own leather punches I bought some 12"x24" 8-9oz leather...
I'm well aware of the purpose for a file guide... I was merely offering a more common and less costly material that's just as hard (if not harder) and long wearing...:rolleyes:

Yes it's just a necked down .308 Win. My favorite .308 based cartridge is the .260 rem I loooooove 6.5mm and am currently working on funds to build a 6.5-284 on a ww2 BRNO mauser 98 action for long range varminting 2guns

Indiana Firearms Opening Day, 11/14/09 Shot @ 5:00pm 9 points, 168# field dressed, Shot with my Muzzleloader, 300 grain Hornady SST. Anchored him, no tracking involved :D
Woulda been a 10 point, but the left G3 was snapped off.
My custom falling block muzzle loader, my father and I made. based on a exploded view of a Steven's 44-1/2. .50 cal shooting 300 gr Hornady SST's through a 1-15 twist Shilen barrell. I use a duplex load of 47 grains of H4227 and 15gr of Triple 7 to get everything going. Ignited by a 209 primer.
Got 3 blades Profiled out. 1095. 3/16" x 1.25" x 9" A wharnie, a clip point recurve, and a drop point recurve. waiting on the buffalo horn to get here so I can fit it up. these are going on Ebay. Pics soon... :D
