    Texas Knife Website Compromised

Just an fyi but texasknife.com's web server has been compromised. If you go there, the site will load normally at first and then will start to "shake" back and forth. It will then tell you that you need to update your browser. The update that it downloads to your computer is a trojan.

    Chris Staniar Photo Gallery

Believe it or not, I just found this subforum. Here ya go. The first post starts with knives from about 2016 This was my first. The blade is a blank from usaknifemaker. I made 3 of these, one for me and two for my kids. That hooked me... This was my first actual grind (after many practice...

    One of our own

So, I'm hoping that I'm mistaken on this and if I am I am sorry. But I saw a post on Facebook on Mark Knapps page about some medical issues. Seems serious. https://www.givesendgo.com/Markthefisherman

    Bolster Pricing

Ok, so I do a lot of metal bolsters - SS, Brass. As you know a metal bolster is a fair amount of work to go from barstock to nicely fitted, peened/pressed, shiny bolster. And for that reason I'm thinking of making them a higher price point than say a wooden/micarta type of bolster. I was...

    Wiring Help

Ok so slightly off topic but it is going in my workshop. I bought a Fasco B45267 115v blower and I need help wiring it. It has Black, White and Red wires for the connections. I get the high speed and low speed deal. All I'd like to do is connect a cord to it and plug it into the wall...

    Musk Ox Horn

I have a steak knife order and the client would like to use musk ox horn as the accent between bolster and scale. Not a big deal but I'm unsure of using musk ox in a food type of environment. Mainly for the stains it might get. I seal it with CA so that should give it some protection.

    Damascus Source Question

I was just poking around the Alabama Damascus site and I'm curious about their pricing. They have various billets for sale and the prices are about in line with what I'd expect, in the 100+ range. But then they have fully ground blades for like $60 and less. They list the steel makeup for the...

    Metallurgy question, sort of...

ok, so just something I've noticed and always been curious about. The best I can describe it is they are patterns in the steel that look like a snail trail. They are generally short maybe 1/8" L by 1/16 or 1/32 W. The only place I've seen this is in 440c and I've only seen it once I've sanded...

    Just being too picky?

I just finished the final tru-oil coats on this and of course I noticed the odd coloring in the grain of the A. Blackwood. The photo doesn't make it as apparent as it is when I look at it firsthand. The black zigzag lines really contrast with the rest. I've worked with African Blackwood a lot...

    440c Question

Ok, so I'm 99% sure I'm just second guessing myself here but I wanted to check. I recently ordered some 440c from NJ steel baron. It had the option for Decarb or no Decarb. I chose no decarb. After grinding some I got to wondering if the fact that it had decarb meant that it had already been...

    First Knives

I made these first two for my kids and another one for me that is still underway. The blades are from usa knives. The handles are Ca Claro Walnut finished with boiled linseed oil mixed with a little shellac. I had a local leathersmith make the sheaths. Still educating myself on the whole...
