    Ryan, You should come to one of the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild meetings. They are held quarterly in Troy, NC at the Montgomery Community College.     Very long first step

    My name is Michael Wilson and I bought a KMG grinder about 8 years ago and it has mostly set in a crappy workshop slowly oxidizing. I've done some grinding but still have yet to finish my first knife. I'm going to be taking a knife making class in August and hope to finally get this journey started.
