It is time for a new Respirator. ..UPDATED (Jan. 15th&16th) with some photos.

Looks like 3M filters may not fit. The instructions say "Use only genuine Resp-o-Rator replacement filters". Understandable - if I were Mr. Duxbury, I'd want to keep the filter proprietary, it's a source of continued revenue.

Running down cause of vibration on belt sander

OK, try this: with your green belt off, grab the top of the motor and tug back and forth parallel to the belt. That will tell you whether you've got a loose connection for your motor mount.

Running down cause of vibration on belt sander

That is a clever use of a X/Y vice! Here are some thoughts: - All rotating things have vibrational harmonics to varying degrees - that is, there will be a speed at which any rotating shaft will find a point where it will vibrate in relationship to its speed and mass. In fact there is often...

    The Edge of Darkness.

Does the use of a diffuser tube / baffle minimize the differential heat issue? The photo shows my propane fired forge, but I wonder if using a baffle like this in an electric oven would offer more uniform heating? Thoughts?

It is time for a new Respirator. ..UPDATED (Jan. 15th&16th) with some photos.

It's hard to tell whether 3M will fit based on the photo. It kinda looks right, but it's a matter of size. Does the literature that comes with the filter say it's compatible with 3M?

Nice, good to see these are available again. Does the new and improved filter directly accept the 3M cartridges like 20XX series bayonet fitting?

    Toaster Oven Mods

Not too sure why you would want to do that. My 110v table top oven heats up to 400F in about 15 minutes and, using a PID controller, holds a steady temperature. I did insulate it with Kawool and that helped stabilize the temp swings. Converting a typical counter top toaster oven to 220v would...

Blind Hole Location Using Polymorph Plastic - WIP

The source of all good things has it - Amazon https://www.amazon.com/s?k=moldable+plastic+pellets&ref=nb_sb_noss Pick your price point, I suspect most/all give the same result. Keep in mind that the stuff is reusable. That block of plastic that I used to locate the pin holes is easily reheated...

Blind Hole Location Using Polymorph Plastic - WIP

This posting is related to an earlier posting I did on Polymorph Plastic and is still a WIP. I want to use this posting to focus on the technique of blind hole location. I'm working on a cleaver handle and want to put an end cap on the handle. There are a bunch of ways to do this, but I wanted...

    USPS Question

Thanks for the heads-up Daniel, I'm a patient guy. I heard another reason for the post Christmas backup is that a lot of online sellers (Amazon, etc) are offering longer free return periods, thus increasing the shipping traffic. Like Gilda Radner said, "It's always something"

SR1 Scale Release Automatic build tutorial

Watch'in close... looking good! I'm jumping the gun a bit, but do you use any kind of bearing in the knife/handle pivot point where the spring is located? Also, to begin making one of these, are there any kinds of starter kits?
