    Once more unto the breach!

Well I finally got it done! There are a couple of things that need to be improved on for the next build but it feels good to get this one done. Time to clean off the work bench and get started on the next one.

    Once more unto the breach!

I thought I would post an update pic. It is amazing how many things I was doing correctly unintentionally! Now I am doing them intentionally! It is always humbling (and time consuming) to find out how much you don't know.

    Once more unto the breach!

Just got the next folder out of the mind and on to paper! The top drawing is the initial drawing (by GD Clark. Friend and knife making accomplice). The next step was to get it into plexiglass to make sure it would function properly and to also test how it will fit in the hand. After that was...

    Carbidizing help please.

Fellhoelter, Yeah I tried reversing the polarity. It didn't seam to help.:15: I also tried a lot of different voltages. I did 5V increments until I blew the fuse in my power supply. I tried a power supply with less amperage (mine is 5 amp). I tried different tip thicknesses for the carbide...

    Help with Handle

Some thoughts. I think you need to get the correct 3 degree tapered reamer and peen the pins. You don't need to use epoxy then. Run the reamer in the scales and then when you peen the pins it pushes the scales into the tang. I like to epoxy on hidden tangs but for scales it is always ream and...

    My first custom folder!

Hi all, Here is my first custom folder worth showing. A big thank you to the knife making community for sharing information and a shout out to Bruce Bump for letting me come by now and then and ask questions. It isn't perfect but it is getting close. Some of the things that I am proud of are...

How to reduce handling marks on anodized titanium?

I finally have the handles done on the folder I am working on! Is there something I can do to help reduce handling marks so that it can have a higher level of appearance when it is getting passed around and not on display. Currently is is not coated with anything as I didn't want to do anything...

    Allah LockBar!

I found them on MSC. It is listed as a slitting saw but I have found the terminology can be interchangeable some times (that or I don't know the difference yet :D). This one is "1 3/4 inch" diameter. .025 thick 90 teeth and .5 inch arbor. https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/63997225 Saw...

    Carbidizing help please.

Hi all, I am working on a folding knife with a titanium liner. I was doing the final fit of the lock bar and some how it is now too deep on the lock face. (This is my first time doing this BTW) I am pretty sure that the voltage I was using to carbidize the lock bar was too high (25V) and I ate...

:biggrin::biggrin: Never hurts to say a prayer. I haven't cut many lock bars and it still gives me a pretty good sweat. Here is a bit of a video.https://www.instagram.com/p/BKEEj7eDIJY/?taken-by=matt_lyon_custom_knives Start off by picking your lines for the lock bar and lock face...

    Custom folding kinfe WIP.

Anodizing. I build my own anodizer. All the info is out there online and I don't really feel like much of an authority on it yet so I will not say too much on how to build one here. The solution is TSP (trisodium phosphate) and I used 25.3 volts to get the color.

Pocket clip. My main gripe about the pocket clip is that it is positioned incorrectly on the knife. It need to be moved down a bit and the screws need to be in better vertical alignment to allow for a deeper fit in the pocket. As a result of the alignment being off the shape and sharpness of...
