    Thanks, glad your happy. We try and keep a few knives like that around. Just good sharp tough knives made to use and abuse. Our locals here arnt known for being easy on knives :D Like I mentioned once before, they dont care about deco, just sharp that stays sharp..

    I understand completely. I have a laundry list of back and nerve problems myself. Lisa does all the regular blacksmithing now. s-hooks, dinner bells, fireplace sets ect.She sets up at the crafts fairs and such.Regular forging is too much for me now. Im really just the instructor/ point and shoot...

    15n20 heat treating for a FILLET knife?

    Im gonna make a new fillet knife and am thinking about using 15n20 since I have the right size available. What temper do you suggest to give the blade just a bit of flex. If Im not istaken its either .049 or .065...In fact I think I have both. OR do you think since its already so thin it will...

    Those hawk drifts are a paint to make.Lots and lots of grinding.. One thing you can do is the wrap and weld method. Get it welded up and then forge in the bottom a bit, it wouldent be perfect but it would be close. Maybe do that and true it up with a half round file..There is a hammer poll...

    Rasp and Ironwood..

    Thanks for the kind compliments guys, much apprciated :D Cliff, We annealed this one and re-heat treated it. My grinder motor is getting weak and needs replaced. It bogs down to easy. You can grind them as is, I know people who do. Then they often temper them from the original hardness.

    Rasp and Ironwood..

    Heres a beefy one made from a good farriers rasp with Ironwood grips. This ironwood has some real nice dpth to it that dosnt really show in the pics.. Stainless pins and lanyard hole..6" blade 1 3/4" wide..

    Man dont feel bad..Just this evening i had to tuen off the grinder and fix my mistakes with files and sandpaper..I was lucky that I stopped when I did or I couldent have fixed them. I can weld all day long in a coal fire and forge most anything to near completion but that stupid grinder hates...

    well, just one of them days....

    The 1084 blades I did were good, the 1095 is the one that cracked on the spine and Im pretty sure I DIDNT have the temp right :D I believe I overheated the spine.
