    diamond farrier rasp file

    Is it "diamond" or "Black Diamond"? If its black diamond then it dosent get any better. They are something like 1095 with added carbon. Around 1.27% carbon.. Diamond brand farrier rasps are on the low end of farrier tools. I wouldent bet on them being quaility steel..

    Overseas damascus is likely man hole covers and shipping drums or pallet strapping,LOL.Seriously Ive heard they use whatever they can find as long as it will contrast.

    We use a truck load of curly maple in hawk handles. By the way Id love to get my hands on some nice exotic wood big wnough for hawk handles.. Knives I love desert ironwood. Finsihed right its beautful. Has a nice chatoyance too..

    Cable Damascus

    We use a lot of cable. Its easy stick cable together but another thing to weld it up tight & right! Ive found out the hard way. I have about 20' of 1" xx plowshare cable that is around 1084-1095 in chemistry. Hardens wonderfully in oil but is a bit dirty so we have to clean it well before...

    A couple recent Hawks...

    First is a wrap and weld hawk with a nice piece of curly maple.. This one is based of some historical spike hawks we have found thru research. Welded up from two seperate pieces for the body and a bit of W-1 tool steel. Also a nice piece of curly maple.

    Rasp Hawk

    Made by wrapping and welding a farriers rasp. This one has an extra chunk of 1095 forge welded in for the bit. Hickory haft with pewter caps. It has filework on the blade spine you just cant see it in these pics. 3" wide cutting edge..

    Shark fishing video

    Man thats awsome, I love shark fishing..I had a rig busted on jekle(sp?) island once by an unknown shark after I had caught some three footers. A big fat five footer was caught in the same spot later on, dont know if that was the one or not..Shattered a good quaility 9' surf rod on me though..

    Fine 2x42 Belts

    We sharpen all our knives on a crafstman 2x42 now..The final sharpening is done with a 1000 grit 1x42 belt then a leather honing belt. Man they get crazy sharp. We ordered the leather belt right here, the 1000 grit belts we got from truegrit..

    Adhesives?

    In case anyones wondering we have been trying the gorilla glue EPOXY and its some great stuff too..Stands up to rough grinding very well, havent had a failure yet..Its some tuff stuff thats for sure..
