    Battleship Texas Bowie

Provenance is always interesting. For the wood, I do have a COA as it was purchased on the secondary market. The ship steel was given to me by a guy who got it from a guy who didn't have permission to give it away. Battleship folks are really picky about who gets their stuff in the first...

    Battleship Texas Bowie

This one will be at Blade Texas. It has elements from the Battleship Texas. The "sky" contains gun turret bearings, the intermediate gray color. The "island" has ship steel and shrapnel from Okinawa. The "sea" is regular 1084/15n20. The setting "sun" is a rivet from the ship, outlined in...

Jason Fry Utility Hunter by White River

I've made about 100 of this hunter over the years, and now I've contracted with White River to make some for me. CPM S35VN and various synthetics. Should have a good variety, plus a bunch in orange/black and blue/black suretouch. Knife is 7 3/4 with a 3 1/4" blade. Comes with a right hand...

    First production project

They'll end up with alot more than 120 before we are done with this project, I bet. Kind of trying to follow the data and see how sales go, then make a quantity decision for a run available for the fall hunting season.

    First production project

Five months ago they said they were something like 15K knives behind due to covid shutdowns, but they still took my project. Another well known company was 30K knives behind and wasn't interested at all.

    First production project

IDK that it was excess capacity really. They did 120 of them for me, and lead time was roughly 5 months. I guess that's a small project, but it's huge for me!

    First production project

As knifemakers y'all appreciate the tension between making what sells and making what you want. You may also be familiar with not having the time to make as many knives as your customers would buy. To get around those issues, I contracted with White River Knife and Tool out of Michigan to have...

Booths are 900. Tables are 500ish. Should be a good show. I'll be there.

    The last ones!

I have freehanded my plunges for 13 years, just got the jig in July :) I can get pretty close by hand, but the jig adds another level of precision. Light pressure, slow speed, lower grit. I tend to cut the plunge in to final shape with a 120, then refine with a 220 and 400 and hand sand...

    The last ones!

Those two are indeed wood with a story. The wood is white oak from a Four Roses whiskey barrel that was given to me by Gil and Linda Hibben. I sliced the wood and relieved the back to keep the original char marks.
