So here it is, done. Some hits and misses. I hit what I was aiming for in form, but missed some in execution. My pedestrian attempts at some new things show. Here it is. Lemme know whatcha think.
Edit: Some official particulars. 12 5/8 OAL, 7 1/4" blade. Wrought iron over 80CrV2 san mai, wrought iron guard, Osage Orange handle, copper pin. One off leather slip of my own invention. I kind of like it.

You really did a GREAT job on that San Mai. The guard shows to be wrought iron - good job..... good job all around, sheath included.

As the other guys have said...beautiful. I, too really like the retention strap and will probably steal the idea if I ever can make a sheath!

Thanks for kind words folks.

For those of you interested in the strap- I used a 3/16" punch to make the ends of the slots, with the slots being 1/2" apart. 7/8oz leather. It made a pretty good fit.

Yeah I also love the simplicity of the strap. So one cut between the two wholes punched or did you make a little with two cuts?
