Morland's KITH WIP

I will not be able to work on the knife for several days. I have about 1000 sports buttons to make for a school fundraiser. But, I wanted to drop a picture hint on the KITH group. Guess what I’m going to try and do with this build??

Hmmm... I’m intrigued. Carved leather sheath???
 
The feather will make a beautiful sheath. Looking forward to seeing that part of the wip (and the rest!).
 
Looks great. Minor question, your chamfered holes look wide, do you know what angle is on the chamfering bit by any chance? I may have to get one.

If the holes are 1/4 inch - I use the second bigger sized drill bit in my set to chamfer. I did not use a chamfering bit.
 
If a guy can stamp leather he should be able to carve leather? Right? Right? Nope, WRONG!!! Absolutely wrong. I can stamp but my carving is horrible. This is my very first attempt at carving. It is supposed to be a feather. I found a decent YouTube that explained the techniques. Thought I would be capable of making a decent looking feather. Failure! Next try.

Try no. 2. A different technique from a different YouTube. Better. I think. Starting to look like a really fat feather. A bit thinner and it would look like a better feather. I will keep trying. Maybe I should stick with stamping.

I should have been more clear. I made these both earlier this evening. I just got around to posting them. And yes, they both look more like leaves than feathers. I have a long ways to go...

Hey man I can't even make a sheath much less do any carving! I hope that my above comment didn't come out wrong or anything.
