New Blade

Got to have something special in mind for the scales on that little beauty???

I'm thinking of a couple of scale options. The first is maroon micarta and the second is Osage orange. What would you suggest, I'd really like a set of knock out scales on this one.

I'm going through my blocks of stash now. That piece of stabilized curly Koa that TY gave me from secret Santa is coming out as a top choice.

You can more than likely get them several places. I just googled them and that is what popped up.

Now I definitely want to see the finished product! It is a product I have thought about several times but haven't found the right piece yet. I do a lot of reproduction pieces for the 1800's and the just wasn't too many Gemsbok running the prairies of the midwest Nebraska and Kansas territory back in the day!! LOL

I would recommend maybe using a thru pin without peening. Rough the pins exterior so the epoxy will bite it. Leave a minimum of length and sand to flush. Do not get the pin hot. Cool often or the heat will do bad things around the pin to the horn material, like chip or crack, etc.etc.!!
A good bed of epoxy will hold it together and the pin is more for shock value!!
