First hidden tang!

I finally finished my first hidden tang knife. Tons of problems on this knife. In my defense this was one of the first knives i made. But I had problems with it so I kept pushing it off. Decided to finish it good or bad. Learned a ton and the next one will be better! Even with the problems I like the blade shape and handle shape. Steel is a file that I found metal detecting near the Hoosic Tunnel, handle was a chunk of Walnut from Dennis Morland (Thank you)!! IMG_20180120_44737.jpg

Great job on your first one! Hidden tangs are a lot of doggone work. The ultimate truism in knifemaking: "I could make a whole other knife in the time it takes to make and fit a guard."

Looks good! The first one can feel a little overwhelming, but the feeling of accomplishment when it's done is worth it. That handle looks like it would fit in the hand really well.

Yes the hidden tangs are another set of difficulties t learn and overcome but the process of getting the first one done should give you a new perspective and an anticipation for the next one to put your new found knowledge to the test.
