Thanks for the compliments and for watching the video. I'm really glad you liked it!
The aluminum rived is added to avoid the drill bit from wondering and lower the chance of me ruining the wood when drilling the whole. It helps but is not totally necessary. If you have the knife nicely clamped...
I actually almost cut my foot off the other day.
The belt snaped while I was shapenning another knife and it sliped off my hand and got stuck to a piece of wood right next to my foot! Oo
I learnt my lesson! Only go into the shop with my boots now!
Thank you, Lucius!
The other videos are more "raw" timelapse style. I tryed changing things up a little bit on this last one! Let me know what you think after you get a chance to watch them!
This is very helpfull!
My Last name is Darian, so if i went for the initials it would be YD, but if i had to go for one initial and a full name I would probably go the other way around: D Yuri
Though decision. hahahah
I'll keep on working it!
Do it! You will not regret it!
Definately a little harder than making a knife without it but if you keep the bolster and tang centered while forging it shouldn't be too much more work...
Thanks a lot, John!
I honestly didn't think the integral bolster would be so cool... but when I held the finished knife for the first time I knew that from that moment on knifemaking would start taking a little longer everytime! hahaha
Hey guys!
Was finally able to finish another knife and a video of the process!
Didn't change my logo yet but I hope that now that I'm using electro etching and the definition is better, it will not be mistaken for something else...
Let me know what you guys think, ideas and improvements for...
OMG! I had no idea!
The symbol is actually not a lightning bolt (it is supposed to be asymmetrical) . It is a part of my signature.
After you guys pointed out about the logo, I've started thinking of something that would include the whole signature. Haven't decided on it yet but got a few...
Thanks, Paul!
The scales are a resin and linen (coton) laminate that I made myself.
It is hard to get G10 here in Brazil and Carbom fiber is just outrageously expensive!
Hi guys!
I've finished this knife quite a while back but never got around to edit the videos I took and post the photos here.
I chose to go with 440C for a more maintenance friendly knife since I was going to be using it a lot. After using it for over a year, I'm very surprised and satisfied...
I've been working on a kitchen knife for my sister and here are the results:
5160 steel blade - tempered at 375F(190C)
Double layer handle scales - Aluminum & Acrylic
DLC coating to prevent oxidation, scratches and because its dark color looks pretty good to me!
Let me know what you guys...
