    Forge opinions

I'm back. :p Finally had to rebuild the forge. The last couple of burns, the floor of the forge was turning molten. On the last burn part of the refractory came down off the ceiling of the forge and the firebrick under it started to turn molten and even had a few drips! Those two Atlas...

    Legal Handle Materials

Especially when you can just go the local pet store and buy pieces of antler labeled "chew toys".

    makers mark poll

I rather liked the squiggles on style #3. Kinda sorta reminds one of mountains on the horizon. Do agree that taking "Made in" off the second line makes it cleaner.

quick question on burning wood in a forge

Any chance there is a Tractor Supply (TSC) near you? They should be getting in their bags of coal, rice and nut size, for the winter heating season. From what I've read a number of other places, that stuff actually works pretty well in a coal forge and the price is good. 40lb bags for about $6...

An appeal / Photobucket just committed suicide!

Was tipped off to this fix by the folks over at OFCC Forum (Ohioans for Concealed Carry)... The one in the image below is the one I found on the Mozilla/Firefox plugin page. Seems to be working! Edited message to uploaded the image instead of linking:

    Practice steel!!

Pretty much any steel is good practice to work on grinding skills. If you want finished knives when done... well then the field gets a little smaller. Heck even some HRS bar stock lets you practice the grinding skills.

    Mid-America Bladesmithing Symposium

Shoot. Going to have to rearrange what sessions I'm going to attend then. The schedule doesn't list them as part 1 and part 2 like some of the other sessions. Was really hoping to hit the Blade Forging demo by Greg Neely on Friday morning and your demo on Saturday.

Kevin, Are both HT sessions the same? Or are they part 1 and part 2? Thanks.
